WHY MENTORING

Mentoring is a proven tool for success, and an encouraging model to follow: 97% of children with a mentor say their mentor is valuable. Mentoring cannot be used as a cure-all, but should be harnessed and put into place to bring positive outcomes to children across the country. Effective mentoring relies on specific skills, sensibilities, and structure from both parties—the mentor and the mentee. However, when both parties put in the effort and take responsibility for success, magic can happen. The best outcomes result from situations where the key ingredients: the mentor, the mentee, and the relationship between the two, are in harmony and are a priority.

OUR SERVICE

Children have proven to benefit greatly from the experience of having a mentor time and again. Here are some of the most important benefits that a program like ours can have.

Learning To Forge Stronger Relationships

The relationship a child has with their mentor acts like a template and a role model for future relationships encouraging the ability to develop healthy boundaries, communication and interpersonal skills, dependable bonds, and consistent contact.

Improved Self-esteem And Confidence

Mentors help children recognize and value their own strengths, talents, and passions, bringing them success at school, in their personal lives, and into adulthood.

Reduced Risk Of Addiction

Studies have shown that children in mentoring programs are less likely to abuse drugs/alcohol later in life. The strong bond between a child and a mentor and the caring relationship between them helps avoid high risk behavior, as children become less impressionable from unhealthy influencers.

Improved Behavior At Home And At School

Having a mentor can help children who are lacking stability at home or at school, it helps with behavior management both academically and socially.

Lower Dropout Rates

According to the US Department of Education, although 83% of high school students across the nation graduate, the dropout rate is larger and a great concern in minority communities. Mentors help students focus on maintaining good grades, avoid distractions, and ultimately graduating school to build a foundation for a productive adult life.

Better School Performance

Mentors help students focus on school work, providing loving guidance along the way. This can help students who lack stability and focus in their home environment.

Higher college enrollment rates

For many disadvantaged students, college isn't even a consideration for a number of reasons, including financial constraints. Mentors can help students see college as a feasible goal, teach them about financial and education options, and guide them in their decision making.

Healthier lifestyle choices

Some children lack wellbeing guidance outside of the classroom. Mentors can aid children in making healthy choices by acting as behavioral role models
